4-6lbwhole chicken
12ozcan beer
1/4cupbrown sugar
1tbspchili powder
1tbsppaprika
1tbspsmoked paprika
1tspgalic powder
1tsponion powder
2tspdry mustard
1tspsalt
1tspfreshly ground black pepper
1/2tspcayenne pepperoptional
Instructions
Preheat an outdoor grill for indirect heat at 375º. For indirect heat, turn off the burner(s) directly below where the chicken will be and turn on the burners to the left and right.
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dry mustard, salt, pepper and cayenne.
Discard half the beer and place the can of in the center of a rimmed baking sheet or on a beer can chicken holder and add 1 tsp. of seasoning into the beer.
Rinse the chicken under cold water and pat dry. Rub remaining seasoning over the entire chicken and place the chicken overtop the beer can and move to the grill.
Close the lid and cook until juices run clear, about 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken.
