Cherry Baked Bars

Bake this dessert for Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 Tbsp. milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º.
  2. Line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil. Spray with nonstick spray and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add butter and sugar. Mix for 1 to 2 minutes. Add salt, eggs and vanilla extract; continue stirring until fully incorporated. Mix in flour and baking powder. Reserve 1/2 cup of dough. Press remaining dough into prepared baking pan. Top with cherry pie filling. Drop reserved 1/2 cup dough in pieces over cherry filling.
  4. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool completely. In a separate bowl, mix together confectioners sugar, cream cheese and milk until smooth. Drizzle glaze over bars and cut into squares.
