4 Quick Snacks that Can Substitute for Meals

Four Quick Snacks that Can Substitute for Meals

Summer is quickly approaching (despite the recent unexpected snowfall!) and life activities are picking back up with the warm weather approaching! From taking the kids to sport practice, to going on an outdoor adventure, we aren’t taking time for granted again. At Sparkle Market, we understand time is precious and recommend these foods that are traditionally viewed as snacks but can double as a light meal to get you through the day or until the game is over!

Whole Grain Toast w/ Peanut Butter + Celery on the Side

A household staple, toast is always the quickest and most versatile food in the kitchen. Between the bread’s fiber-rich carbs and the peanut butter’s healthy fats, this quick snack will keep you full for hours. For even more fiber and nutrients, you can add some blueberries or strawberries on top.

Apple and String Cheese

How simple can we be? Apples are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals, all of which benefit health. String cheese, a source of calcium, has the ultimate on-the-go potential. Grab an apple slicer for a smaller portion and a string cheese to get a healthy dose of fiber, potassium, folate and protein. To add even more protein, add some peanut butter and dip the apples in it.

Frozen Grapes with Greek Yogurt Dip

Frozen grapes are a delicious snack on their own, but they taste even better dipped in Greek yogurt. With the hints of sweetness comparable to ice cream, this would be a great snack for children. Also, with yogurt coming in so many different flavors, there is always room to try a new flavor! To make it extra filling, add some granola to your yogurt.

Cottage Cheese with Crackers

As an excellent source of calcium, cottage cheese has only grown in popularity the last few decades. The easy prep time makes this snack even more attainable with it only taking a few seconds to grab a portioned size of cottage cheese and some crackers! If you have a little extra time, you can even jazz up the cottage cheese by adding a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning and chopped tomato! For a sweeter combination, try adding some fresh strawberries or pineapple.

Don’t forget to head to your local Sparkle Market first for all the quality ingredients you need before you prepare your snacks.
