Homemade Sweet Potato Fries

For a healthier alternative to regular french fries, try this recipe for sweet potato fries. They’re extra flavorful and served with a tangy mayo sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet potatoes
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
  • 3 Tbsp. barbecue sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°.
  2. While it preheats, place two baking sheets in the oven for about 10 minutes. Peel potatoes and slice into 1/4 to 1/2-inch strips. In a bowl, combine oil, sugar, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and oregano. Add potatoes and toss to coat.
  3. Remove hot baking sheets from the oven. Divide potatoes evenly among the two sheets, making sure they are not touching. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. Meanwhile combine barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Serve with fries.
