Homemade Stuffing

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without the stuffing! This year, try Megan’s family recipe for Homemade Stuffing.

Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf white bread, cut into pieces and dried or 1 (16 oz.) bag stuffing cubes
  • 1/2 lb. bacon, chopped
  • 6 ribs celery, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (15.5 oz.) can chicken broth
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Place bread in a large bowl and set aside. In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy, reserving 2 tablespoons of grease. Transfer bacon to bowl with bread. Add celery and onion to skillet and cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Add to bowl.
  3. Meanwhile, cook ground beef until cooked through. Add to bowl with bread and mix ingredients together. Add chicken broth, eggs, salt and pepper. Combine and if mixture feels dry, add more chicken broth.
  4. Transfer mixture to a baking dish and bake for 45 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. This is more of a dense stuffing and can be sliced, but it is also great stuffed in your turkey. For easier mixing, use your hands to incorporate all ingredients.
