Sausage and Pepper Pizza Hoagies

Sausage and Pepper Pizza Hoagies have the best of both worlds! Stop in the meat department to pick up fresh Sparkle Italian Sausage.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. Sparkle Italian rope sausage, sliced 1/2-inch thick
  • 1 green pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 6 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • 6 hoagie rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°.
  2. In a greased skillet over medium-high heat, sauté peppers and onion for 5 minutes or until tender. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add sausage slices and cook for 7 minutes. Add garlic, marinara and oregano to skillet, stir to combine. Lower heat and cook for 3 more minutes.
  4. Arrange rolls onto a baking sheet. Add pepper and onion mixture to each roll and top with sausage and sauce mixture. Place cheese overtop of rolls and place in oven. Bake for 5 to 10 minutes until cheese is melted and browning.
