Barbecue Chicken Dip

BBQ Chicken Dip

Football season is here! Whether you’re watching at the college or national level, you need great snacks! Buffalo chicken dip is always a favorite, but Megan’s in the Sparkle Eats kitchen putting a special twist on the traditional recipe and making it barbecue!

This dip is super easy to make. You’ll just need a few ingredients: half of a cup of chopped red onion, two cups of cooked and shredded chicken breast (or for a supermarket shortcut, purchase a rotisserie chicken to shred and save a few steps), one 8 ounce package of softened cream cheese, three fourths of a cup of your favorite barbecue sauce, half of a cup of ranch dressing, one tablespoon of hot sauce, two cups of shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions for topping.

Start by preheating your oven to 350º. In a small skillet, sauté red onion in olive oil until translucent. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked onion, chicken, cream cheese, barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, hot sauce and 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Pour mixture into a 8×8-inch baking dish sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly. Top with green onions, if desired.

Instead of baking, you can also combine all of your ingredients and place in a slow cooker. Let us know what you think of this recipe on our social channels!
