Steak Crostini with Goat Cheese

Steak Crostini

We all want to treat Dad with something special for Father’s Day, and that often means steak. If you’re having a crowd, serving and cooking multiple steaks can be difficult and expensive. Treat Dad to this amazing steak appetizer that he’ll be sure to love.

To make this delicious appetizer, you’ll need 6 ounces of soft goat cheese, 1 tablespoon of prepared horseradish, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, 1 minced clove garlic, 1 baguette cut into ½-inch slices, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, a 6-ounce steak of your choosing (NY strip, ribeye or sirloin), kosher salt and pepper, 1/4 cup of sliced fresh basil leaves and a Balsamic glaze for topping.

Start by seasoning the steak with salt and pepper. Then, cook the steak in a cast iron pan or on a grill until desired degree of doneness, about 4 to 5 minutes per side, depending on the steak’s thickness. Next, remove the steak from the heat and let the steak rest for 10 minutes before slicing it into thin slices.

Meanwhile, brush the baguette slices with olive oil and place them under a broiler until browned.

In a small bowl, mix the goat cheese, horseradish, salt, pepper and garlic until well combined.

Finally, spread some of the goat cheese mixture onto the crostini, top with sliced basil leaves, a slice of bacon and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
