This fun grilling recipe is a great way to cook whole fryer chicken, especially when it’s on sale at your local Sparkle! Pick up a whole chicken and your favorite can of beer, then get started.
Ingredients
- 1 (3 – 5 lb.) whole chicken
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. paprika
- 2 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 (12 oz.) can beer
Instructions
- Preheat an outdoor grill to 375°.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, dry mustard, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place the can of beer in the center of the plate.
- Rinse chicken under cold running water and pat dry. Fit chicken over the can of beer with the legs on the bottom; keep upright. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of the seasoning mix into the top cavity of the chicken. Rub the remaining seasoning mix over the entire surface of the chicken.
- Place the chicken, standing on the can, directly on the preheated grill. Close the lid and cook until the juices run clear, about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
