Holiday Toffee

Here at Sparkle, we are preparing you for the Christmas season! This is a great and easy recipe to use for cookie platters at your next holiday party or gifts for your neighbors and or your child’s teachers. It only takes a few ingredients and a little bit of time to make this delicious toffee recipe!

To begin this recipe you will need 4 sticks of butter, 2 cups of white sugar, 1 1/8 cups of smashed almonds, divided, and 1/2 of a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

In a large saucepan, combine butter and sugar on a high heat (or medium-high for gas stoves.) Stir butter and sugar until it comes to a boil. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan and watch closely. Continue stirring until the temperature reaches 310º, then immediately remove from heat. Mix 1 cup of smashed almonds into the saucepan until thoroughly combined. Pour into an ungreased baking sheet. Let cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle 1/2 of a cup of chocolate chips over the top. Let rest until chocolate chips are melted enough to spread over the top. Dust with 1/8 cup smashed/chopped almonds. Once the chocolate has cooled and hardened, break apart with the tip of a knife to the desired size. *These can be bagged or put into containers for gifts.
